In peak detect display mode, the useful limit is more apparent from the
display. As we zoom in on peak detected data, we eventually see the
resolution of the peak detected information. The appearance of the
resolution limit differs based on whether vectors are on or off. With vectors
on, the resolution limit in peak detect appears as shown in the following
figure.

In the display, the “boxes” indicate the peak detect uncertainty.

Horizontally, the box indicates the time over which peak detect searched
for minimum and maximum values.
•
Vertically, the box indicates the maximum and minimum value.
These boxes apply to both digital channels on the HP 54645D and analog
channels on the HP 54645A/D. These boxes also indicate that the scope could
get better timing resolution if you re-acquired the data at a faster sweep
speed.
