Electrical Engineering Laboratory Equipment Manual
The Adv (advanced) trigger menu button allows you to specify complex triggering
criteria. As the advanced trigger mode will not be necessary to complete the labs, it will
not be explained here. Refer to the operations manual should you need to use this
feature.
Display, Measurements and Printing
The Display menu button brings up the following items:
 Auto Glitch Detect Enable / Disable
 Reorder 15  0 / 0  15
 Grid Off / Frame / Full
These controls are self-explanatory, except for auto glitch detect. When this
feature is enabled, fast glitches will be identified and displayed, but only for time/div
settings of 1 s/div and slower. In other words, glitches that are narrower in time than
the sampling rate could be missed if this feature were disabled.
Measurements based on a single channel (single waveform)
are accessed by pressing the Single channel measurement button. It
brings up a series of softkeys that allow you to select the source
channel for the measurement, and the following five measurements:
frequency, period, duty cycle, positive and negative width. These
softkeys, and others not mentioned here, are self-explanatory.
Measurements based on two channels are accessed by
pressing the Dual channel measurement button. Three different
automatic measurements are then possible: channel-to-channel
delay, setup time and hold time. These particular measurements will
not be explained in detail here; instead, refer to the operations
manual should the need for these measurements arise.
A set of time cursors is available via the Cursors menu button. Their operation is
self-explanatory.
The Print/Utility menu options are exactly the same as for the HP 54600A/601A
oscilloscope, and will not be duplicated here. Accordingly, printing is exactly the same
as for the HP 54600A/601A.
