Verification Tests 75
Tests Procedure To verify that the relays in each group are functioning:
1. Remove any external wiring from the Agilent 44478A/B connectors;
2. Reset the Agilent 44478A/B and press Mon;
3. Create a scan list including all the channels on an Agilent 44478A/B;
4. Connect the Multimeter between the center conductor of the COM 00
connector and the center conductor of the channel under test (start
with CH 00). The Multimeter should indicate the channel is open
(very high resistance or an overload indication);
5. Press Step, the Multimeter should display a resistance of less than
1Ω;
6. Repeat Steps 4 & 5 for Channels 01, 02 and 03;
7. Connect the Multimeter between the center conductor of the COMM
00 connector and the center conductor of the channel under test (start
with CH 10. The Multimeter should indicate the channel is open;
8. Press Step, the Multimeter should display a resistance of less than
1Ω;
9. Repeat Steps 7 & 8 for Channels 11, 12 and 13.
Correction If during Steps 4 & 7, one or more relays does not function, a problem exists
either in the Controller board or in the Agilent 44478A/B. Use a functional
Agilent 44478A/B and perform the same tests to isolate the problem.
If during Steps 5 & 8, the resistance when the channel is closed is more than
1Ω, one or more relays on this channel is defective. Replace the Agilent
44478A/B with a new one in this case.
