50 Front-Panel Operation
To Pair Two Cards Two same type plug-in modules (cards) can be paired. Once paired, any
operation on a channel of one module will be duplicated on the
corresponding channel of the paired module. To pair two same type cards:
1. Press Menu, the CONFIG annunciator lights up. Turn the knob to
select “CARD PAIR”, press Enter;
2. When “FIRST SLOT 1” is displayed, turn the knob to select the first
paired slot (i.e. Slot 1), then press Enter

3. When “SECOND SLOT -” is displayed, turn the knob to select the
second slot (i.e. 5) to be paired with the first;
4. Press Enter to return to “CARD PAIR”, press Menu again to exit this
operation, the CONFIG annunciator turns off accordingly.
To Configure the
External Trigger
Agilent 3499A/B/C provides two pairs of trigger lines for
externally-controlled scanning. The first pair (TRIG IN & TRIG OUT) is on
the rear panel of the mainframes, the second pair of EI (External Increment)
& CC (Channel Closed) is on the Agilent 44474A. You can use only one pair
of the trigger lines each time, and specify whether a trigger out pulse can be
sent out when a relay is closed during a scan.
To configure the external trigger:
1. Press Menu, the CONFIG annunciator lights up. Turn the knob to
select “CONF EXT TRIG”, then press Enter;
2. Select either Slot 0 (Agilent 3499A/B/C) or the slot in which an
Agilent 44474A is installed, then press Enter;
[1]. In case there are no matching cards installed in the mainframe, the display will show “NO MATCH”, then automatically
returns to the first level of the Menu menu.
