Basic Front-Panel
Operation
The following examples demonstrate some basic operation to operated the
Agilent 3499A/B/C. Assuming that an Agilent N2260A module is installed
in slot 1 of the Agilent 3499A and configured as a 40-channel 2-wire MUX
(default setting), the channels on the Agilent N2260A can be addressed as
100 through 139.
To Open/Close a Channel
Turn the knob to the desired channel (i.e. 102), the channel specified is
shown on the channel display area.
Press Open/Close

to open/close the selected channel.
Only one channel can be opened/closed each time, repeat the procedure
above to open/close other channels.
Note To open all channels on a module, press Card Reset. To open all channels
on the plug-in modules in an Agilent 3499A/B/C, press Shift + Card
Reset

, or cycle power the instrument.
To Change the Instrument System Mode
The Agilent 3499A/B/C can be operated in either one of the two system
modes: SCPI mode and 3488A mode. The instrument is set to SCPI mode
(factory default).
To change the system mode, press Menu first, turn the knob until the
“SYSTEM MODE” is displayed, press Enter; then turn the knob to the
specific system mode, press Enter again to change the instrument system
mode.
Note Switching between SCPI mode and 3488A mode will reset the instrument
to the factory default settings (except the GPIB address).
To View Relay Cycles
The relay cycle counts for the switching relays on some Agilent modules can
be read out. These modules include:
1. Agilent N2260A 40-Channel 2-Wire MUX Module;
2. Agilent N2261A 40-Channel GP Relay Module;
3. Agilent N2262A 4 x 8 2-Wire Matrix Switch Module;
4. Agilent N2264A Multifunction Module;
[1]. Press Close means to press the key Close on the front panel of the Agilent 3499A/B/C.

[2]. Press Shift + Card Reset means to press the key Shift first, then press the key Card Reset.
