DC current measurements
When you connect the multimeter in series with a test
circuit to measure current, a measurement error is
introduced. The error is caused by the multimeter’s series
burden voltage. A voltage is developed across the wiring
resistance and current shunt resistance of the multimeter, as
shown below.

If you apply more than 5 A during current measurement,
self- heating occurs in the multimeter’s 10 A shunt resistor
and internal signal- conditioning component. Do allow few
minutes stabling time for better accuracy for current
measurement. After applying more than 5 A current
measurement, do allow a few minutes for heat dissipation to
ensure better accuracy for other measurement.
