Sampling Measurements
Measurement Functions
Sampling measurement is executed as explained below.
1. At Starts Sampling, source unit starts the constant current output, constant
voltage output, or pulsed constant bias output.
2. Waits hold time.
3. Measurement unit (SMU or VMU) starts one point measurement.
4. After the measurement, the result data is stored in memory.
5. Triggers one point measurement. Interval of trigger is same as Sampling
Interval.
6. (Case 1) Measurement unit executes one point measurement if it is ready to
measure. The result data is stored in memory.
(Case 2) Measurement unit waits next trigger if it is busy or in measurement. In
this case, the result data is not stored.
7. Repeats steps 5 and 6 until that a sampling completion condition is satisfied.
In Figure 3-1, sampling measurement stops when the completion condition total
sampling time is satisfied.
Number of measurement data stored in memory depends on the sampling
completion condition. Maximum number is specified by the NO. OF SAMPLES
field of the MEASURE: SAMPLING SETUP screen. However the measurement
will be immediately stopped if a sampling completion condition is satisfied before
reaching the maximum number. For the sampling completion condition, see
“Sampling Completion” on page 3-9.
NOTE If negative hold time has been set
Steps 1 to 3 in the above procedure are replaced with the following steps.
1. At Starts Sampling, measurement unit (SMU or VMU) starts one point
measurement.
2. Source unit does not start the source output until the absolute value of the hold
time elapsed after Starts Sampling.
3. After the hold time, the source unit starts the constant current output, constant
voltage output, or pulsed constant bias output.
