3.4.2 Hardware Conﬁguration

This section describes the conﬁguration for both the remote and local modems, as

well as the interconnection of all necessary hardware.

Imagesetter Modem

Conﬁguration:

The remote modem recommended is a GVC 2400BPS Fax/Modem, Model #

FMM9696/24V. This unit has been extensively tested for correct operation in the

Avantra. Other modems can be used, but correct operation cannot be guaranteed.

Refer to Table 3-3 and Table 3-4 for detailed information on the modem conﬁgura-

tion settings.

To ensure proper operation of the modem, certain registers and non-volatile conﬁg-

uration parameters must be pre-set prior to installation. A PC or terminal is

required to set these values. Table 3-2 lists the commands/registers that must be

pre-set.
