19. On the Ready to Install screen, review the components to be installed and ensure that they are
correct.
The following components should be listed:
• SQL Server Database Services (Upgrade)
• Integration Services
• Client Components
20. If the listed components are not correct, return to the Components to Install screen and select
the correct items. Once the components are correct, click Install.
21. Wait while the components are upgraded or installed, then click Next.
22. On the Completing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup screen, click Finish.
23. Restart the computer.
When the computer restarts, log into Windows as an administrator-level user.
The next steps in the upgrade process are to stop the SQL Server services, then to install SQL Server
2005 SP2.
Stopping SQL Server services
Before installing SQL Server 2005 SP2, stop the Windows SQL Server services.
To stop SQL Server services
1. Open the Windows Administrative Tools.
2. Select Services.
3. Select each of the following services in turn and click Stop Service, if needed:
a. SQL Server Full Text Search
b. SQL Server Browser
c. SQL Server Integration
4. Close the Services window.
You can now install SQL Server 2005 SP2.
Installing SQL Server 2005 SP2
You must acquire SQL Server 2005 SP2 from Microsoft; for example, you can download it from their
website. Before running the installer, ensure that you know what the sa (system administrator) database
password is, as you must enter it during the installation. Install the Service Pack after installing the
software and stopping the SQL services.
To install SQL Server 2005 SP2
1. Launch the SP2 installer.
2. If you see a security warning, click Run.
