The Airfields
Welcome to Bavarian Airfields South- Part 1:
The 6 most beautiful general aviation airfields of southern Bavaria
finally come to the simulator:
EDPI Moosburg - small forest airfield with grass runway northeast of
Munich
EDMJ Jesenwang - idyllic asphalt airfield with the shortest runway in
Germany
EDNH Bad Wörishofen - idyllic grass airfield between Landsberg and
Tannheim
EDMT Tannheim - the legendary grass field, known from the former
“Tannkosh” flying events
EDMK Kempten - the highest GA grass airfield in Germany
EDNL Leutkirch Unterzeil - customs airfield between Memmingen and
Kempten
Each airfield was built 1:1 to the prototype, hundreds of detailed
photos were taken at each airfield and reconstructed in close
exchange with the airfield operators.
Since the developers fly themselves, they have focused on every little
detail as well as all approach points at the airfields.
All airfields have the approval of the airfield operators as well as
original ICAO approach charts & airfield maps courtesy of Deutsche
Flugsicherung and Eisenschmidt.
EDPI Moosburg auf der Kippe
Moosburg auf der Kippe is located 45km northeast of Munich directly
at the river Isar and is a PPR grass airfield. This means that in reality
the airfield can only be approached on request.
The airfield is approved for aircraft of all types up to 2000 kg MTOW
(Maximum Take-off Weight) and is located at an altitude of 419,4 m
above MSL (sea level) / 1376 ft.
Runway alignments at Moosburg are RWY04 and RWY22 with a
700x 30 m grass runway.
The operator of the airfield which is beautifully situated in the middle
of a forest scar, is the Fliegerclub Moosburg e.V.. The club has been
flying since the 1960s. There is a clubhouse, a restaurant and a
hangar. You can rent bicycles directly at the airfield to explore the
wonderful town of Moosburg.
In addition to the grass runway and approach over the Isar River, the
small airfield is particularly interesting because of its direct proximity
to the Charlie control zone of Munich Airport.
The aerodrome circuit is kept very narrow and is directly next to
Charlie airspace, which makes the approaches especially challenging.
Moosburg Airfield is well known for its wonderfully organized annual
airfield festivals and flea markets.
