Speed below 250 knots
If the copilot function is set to ON the highest value is automatically inserted using the MCDU FPLAN
data. The value will be entered by the copilot in visible steps (with sound) and considering the 100
and 1000 switch. Some values like 3.490 feet cannot be entered so the next possible higher value
which means for 3.490 = 3.500 must be or are entered.
If no values are available in the F-PLAN or there is no GA flight path available in the NAV DB the
copilot sets the value to a value of (airport altitude rounded to next full 1.000) plus 4.000 feet e. g.
normally to 5.000 feet.

Landing Memo / blue entries - : Please check if there are no “blue” entries in the Landing Memo. If
for some reasons there are still “blue” entries (you might have forgotten to make certain settings)
then please make those settings now.
198.
Set VAPP: Passing 4.0 DME we now must reduce our speed to our final landing speed. To do this press
the Speed knob and the will automatically reduce speed to managed speed, which in our case will be
around 129kt.
Here comes a small trick special to however. The MCDU Vapp calculation is different from the flight
computers calculation which may load to a different stall speed shown on the airspeed indicator than
assumed by the MCDU. Please adjust the Vapp to show at least 5kt above the caution range on the
speed indicator! If it shows for example the limit at 126kt set the Vapp in the MCDU to 131kt.
199.
Auto Throttle: Leave the A/THR on…..
200.
Wing Anti Ice: Leave the Wing Anti Ice OFF
There are also various other approach procedures used depending on airline and weather condition (ILS- and
non-ILS-approaches).
