Start Climb Checklist: The checklist starts under the following conditions:
"After TO" CL is no longer active
Thrust levers are in Climb mode
FMA State = CLB
159.
At 10.000 feet: As soon as the altitude of 10.000 feet is reached it means that the speed restriction of
250 knots is no longer valid. Therefore the aircraft speeds up to the calculated value of 296 knots (FMGC
or MCDU) based on the COST INDEX used for this flight.
After passing the last constraint on your SID you should switch the ND to either ARPT or VOR.D to get
the surrounding airports or navaids shown which will greatly enhance your situational awareness.
Note that you can only display one option at a time, selecting one will automatically deselect the other.
10.000 Feet
160.
Landing Lights: For high altitude airports (> 5.000 feet) the function has been changed as follows:
During the CLIMB CL the 10.000 feet call is omitted and the landing lights are switched off by
the copilot after the Baro Check at the transition level.
During the DESCENT also already at the transition level (> 10.000 feet) the Landing Lights as
well as Landing System are set to ON by the copilot.
161.
Transition Altitude: Setting up the MCDU we changed the proposed transition altitude (set to 5.000
feet for Frankfurt) i.e. now reaching this value of 5.000 feet the system has to be set to “STD =
Standard”. When the value starts blinking in the PFD please pull the “BARO” button. Please also check
the ISIS (Glareshield #13) e. g. the value is set to STD (right click on the knob at the bottom right)
Passing around FL250 the Flight Attendant will ring the “door bell” and check if you need anything.
Whenever the bell rings turn the VIDEO selector to CKPT ENTRY to check who is there and then unlock
the door by holding the COCKPIT DOOR switch to UNLOCK for a few seconds. You will hear the door
opening and the flight attendant might offer you a coffee.
