Determining Torque Loading and Actuator Sizing
Damper torque loadings, used in selecting the correct size actuator, should be
p
rovided by the damper manu
f
acturer. I
f
this in

ormation is not available, the
f
ollowing general selection guidelines can be used.

For new construction work
,
order dam

s
. Instruct the
installing contractor to allow space for mounting and service of the Belimo actuator on
t
he shaft. The damper shaft must extend at least 3 1/2” from the duct. If the shaft
extends less than 3-1/2” or if an obstruction blocks access, the shaft can be extended
with the AV 10-18 sha
f
t extension accessory or the actuator may be mounted in its short
s
haft configuration.
Mechanical Operation
T
he actuator is mounted directl

available

T

, for example,
for fan start-up. The switchin
g
function at the fail-safe position is fixed at +5°, the
other switch

Automatic Airtight Dampers/Manual Override
T
he AF series provides 95° o
f
rotation and is provided with a graduated position
i
ndicator showin
g
0° to 95°.
T
he AF has a unique manual positioning mechanism which allows the setting o
f
any
d
amper position within its 95° of rotation. A pre-tensioned spring automatically
ti
g
htens damper when power is applied to the actuator, compensatin
g
for damper

eal deterioration.
T
he actuator is shipped at +5°
(
5° from full fail-safe
)
to provide automatic

. When power is applied, the
manual mechanism is released and the actuator drives toward the
