KIA CERATO 5
At the core of the engineering philosophy at KIA Motor Corpora-
tion is “continuous innovation”. It’s what drives the consequent
surprise associated with every line of KIA vehicles produced and
no more spectacular is the manifestation than with the optimally
turned out new Cerato 5. It continues to do its roots of “continu-
ous surprise” proud.
The latest creation from the desk of Peter Schreyer, KIA’s leg-
endary chief design offi cer, the new Cerato 5 is immediately rec-
ognisable by its distinctive tiger-nose grille, and with its clipped
rear overhang, the car looks poised and athletic. In profi le,
it’s sleek and purposeful, with a sense of fl uidity that’s strongly
coupé. In an uninspired world of automotive carbon copies, the
new Cerato 5 truly holds its own in its segment.
Depending on the model, the new Cerato comes with climate
control, tilt/telescopic steering column, paddle shifters for the
automatic model and and two-memory 10-way power adjustment
for the driver’s seat.
Steering wheels can also carry audio and cruise control and
selections for the comprehensive trip data computer.
High-intensity discharge headlamps mark the road ahead;
front and rear-parking radar takes care of the close-range stuff;
and fl ashing taillights will signal heavy braking.
It also offers the unique FlexSteer system with which the driver
can choose from a variety of steering feedback options, including
Sport, Normal and Comfort. The latter is the steering at its light-
est setting, which is used primarily for easy manoeuvring when
parking, as well for city driving. Normal mode is medium steering
effort, with Sport mode the heaviest setting.
To avoid nasty surprises, the Cerato boasts a six-sensor park-
distance control with rear-view mirror camera display.
It sports a comprehensive and intuitive 110 mm colour in-
formation screen with Bluetooth phone connection and fi ve-star
crash-protection ratings from the US and Australia, assisted by
best-in-class braking.
The new Cerato has an improved suspension and an upgraded
powertrain line-up that delivers class-leading performance and fuel
economy.
By extending the wheelbase and completely rethinking the use of
space, every occupant will enjoy the new Cerato’s roomy interior.
Soft-touch materials and carbon-pattern embossing are among the
fi nishing touches that give the entire cabin a high-quality, modern feel.
Featuring an intuitive instrument and switch layout, the driver-
orientated cockpit is the perfect blend of functionality and style. The
centre fascia is angled towards the driver by nine degrees, while the
distinctive wave-like motif of the dashboard completes the overall look.
