1.11 Cache Memory

Since the second-level (L2) cache has been embedded into the Intel®

socket 478 Pentium® 4//Celeron-D/Mobile Pentium® 4-M/Celeron®

processor, you do not have to take care of either SRAM chips or SRAM

modules. The built-in second-level cache in the processor yields much

higher performance than the external cache memories. The cache size in

the Intel ® Pentium ® 4 processor is 256/512 KB. In the Celeron-D/Cele-

ron CPU, the cache size is 256/128KB. In the Mobile Pentium 4(R)-M

CPU, the cache size is 512KB.

1.12 Processor Installation

The AIMB-740-6CB1 is designed for Intel Pentium® 4//Celeron-D/

Mobile Pentium® 4-M/Celeron® (socket 478).

Step 1 : Lift the processor socket lever

Step 2 : Align the corner having the triangle marking on the processor

with the corner where the lever is attached to the socket

Step 3 : Lower the lever to its original position
