the piston housing, and up
against the rear face of the
blast baffle.
8. While holding the silencer
tightly in one hand and the
dowel in the other hand,
apply force to the dowel to
push the baffle stack out the
front of the tube. See Figure
18. If the baffles will not push
out with hand pressure,
lightly tap the end of the
dowel with a hammer.
9. Separate the baffles from
one another prior to clean-
ing. The baffle stack, as
shown in Figure 19, is com-
prised of (L-R), a caged blast
baffle, six standard baffles,
and a short front baffle.
CLEANING YOUR BAFFLE
STACK
WARNING! Only use solvents
in a well ventilated area away
from open flames. Unsafe
use of solvents may lead to
property damage, personal
injury and/or death.
1. Clean accumulated fouling
from the baffles using a plas-
tic bristle brush and solvent.
See Figure 20.
2. Clean accumulated fouling
from the inside of the front
chamber using a plastic bris-
tle brush and solvent. See
Figure 21.
3. Inspect the Viton O-ring on
the outside of the front cham-
ber (shown as red in Figure
21). Replace the O-ring if it
appears worn or frayed. Re-
placements can be pur-
chased from McMaster-Carr.
The part number is 9464K74.
4. Use a cotton swab, plastic
brush, and solvent to clean
accumulated fouling from the
caged blast baffle. See Fig-
ure 22.
WARNING! All traces of sol-
vent must be allowed to
evaporate prior to reassem-
bly. Failure to remove all sol-
vent from the silencer prior to
use may lead to property
damage, personal injury
and/or death.
REASSEMBLING YOUR
ILLUSION 9
1. Insert the caged blast baffle
into the tube. See Figure 23. NOTE: Do not be concerned with baffle
alignment at this point. Alignment of the baffles will occur in step 3.
2. Insert six standard baffles into the tube. See Figure 24. NOTE: As you
can see in Figure 25, the stack of six standard baffles and the caged
blast baffle will not be tabbed together and not be aligned. Do not be
concerned with baffle alignment at this point. Alignment of the baffles
will occur in step 3. NOTE: The outer tube is depicted as transparent in
the following steps to clearly show the method of aligning the baffle
stack.
3. Hold the silencer upright and place the front chamber on the front-most
