Gener al Monitor Pr oblems
The following tables contain general troubleshooting techniques for
the FlowShark IS flow monitor.
Problem
Monitor does not answer via wireless communi cation.
Possible
Causes
Signal s t rength to the modem may be insuffi cient.
Battery pac k(s) may be dead or below the minimum
voltage requirement (8.0 volts external, 6.5 volts
internal).
Modem Reset P CB failure may have occurred.
Wireles s network fail ure may have occ urred.
Antenna may be defect i ve.
Monitor may be defective.
Modem in EMU may be defect i ve.
Leading zeros are included before or within the IP
address.
Possible
Solutions
If si gnal strength has been margi nal , consi der t ryi ng t he
other GSM/GP RS operat i ng frequency by connec t i ng
the EMU to the ot her antenna cable. Attempt
com munic ations again and verify whether signal
strength has im proved.
Replace either the EMU battery or the monit or battery if
either one is reading bel ow the minimum vol t age
requirement.
Try connect i ng t o other wireless units (i. e. , other ADS
wireless sites) in the same area. I f all connections fail
for similar I P addresses and/or none of t he wireles s
connecti ons are success f ul , a wireless network outage
may be occurring in the area. Contact your regional
ADS represent ative to i nves t i gate a possible outage.
Replace the monitor.
Delete any leading zeros included before or within the IP
address.
