To rearrange elements
You can rearrange the XML structure by dragging elements to different positions in the Structure pane or by copying
and pasting. You cannot move or delete the Root element. You also can’t drag table cell elements or drop elements
into a table element.
When you cut an element, the element and contents are cut to the clipboard, but the frame remains intact.
Changing the hierarchy affects the structure of exported XML files and might affect the appearance of tagged items
in the layout. For example, if you move a text element to make it the child of an element elsewhere in the structure,
the text in the layout also moves.
Do one of the following in the Structure pane:
To move an element, drag it to a new location within the structure tree. A line appears when you drag to indicate
where you are inserting the element. The width of the line marks the level within the hierarchy.
To make an element a child of another element, either position it over the parent element to highlight it or place
it amongst the parents other child elements, and then release the mouse button.
To move an element out a level in the hierarchy, drag it just above another parent element and move to the left
slightly until the line indicating its placement spans the width of the parent element.
In the Structure pane, select the element or elements you want to copy or move, and then choose Edit > Copy or
Edit > Cut. Select the element directly above where you want to paste, and choose Edit > Paste.
To add an element to the structure
To organize your XML content, you may want to create “umbrella” elements that appear in the Structure pane but
are not applied to any page items. These elements are called structural elements. For example, youcan create aPicture
tag that acts as a parent to tags such as Caption and Credit, but is not applied to any page item.
You can also add attributes, comments, or processing instructions to your XML content.
1 Select the element below which you want the element to appear.
2 Select New Element from the Structure pane menu, or click the Add An Element button .
3 Select the tag to be used for the element, and then click OK.
4 Move thenew elementwithinthe structureasnecessary.Dragtaggedelementstothe newelement to addthemas
