Mix the cherries, sugar, corn starch
and orange in a large saucepan.
Cook on medium heat until
the mixure comes to a full boil,
then let it stand for about 10
minutes to thicken, stirring a
couple of times during the cooling.

The italicized first word of step 3 causes the number 3 to be italicized as well, unless you change the numbering format in the Bullets and Num-
bering dialog box.
To change the formatting of a bulleted or numbered list
1 In Layout view, select the set of bulleted or numbered paragraphs that you want to edit.
2 Choose Bullets and Numbering from the Paragraph palette menu.
3 Change the bullet character (see “Editing bullet characters” on page 230), or change the numbering options (see
“Numbered list options” on page 231).
4 Specify the font appearance and color. If the font of the character you select is “remembered” (assigned to the
bullet character), the Font Family and Font Style options are dimmed.
Note: An option name in parentheses, such as (Adobe Garamond Pro) or (12 pt), indicates the default formatting using
the first character of the paragraph. You can override this default by selecting a specific font setting. If you change the
font settings but want to return them to the same as the first character in the paragraph, choose the top option in the
appropriate menu, such as (Text Font Size) or (Text Font Family).
5 To change the bullet or number position, do any of the following, and then click OK:
• For Position, select Hanging or Flush Left.

• To change the distance between the left margin and the text, specify Left Indent and First Line Indent settings.
• Specify the Tab position. If Flush Left is selected for Position, the Tab setting determines the amount of space
between the bullet or number and the first character in the paragraph. If Hanging Indent is specified for Position,
the Tab setting value must be between the Left Indent and First Line Indent Values.
