Printing gradients as separations
When separated, a gradient between
two custom colors creates custom color
artwork; a gradient that uses any non-
custom color creates process color
artwork. To create a gradient that will
separate on one piece of film between
a custom color and white, create a
gradient fill between the custom color
and a 0% tint of the color.
Note: If you create a gradient between
two custom colors, make sure that the
colors are assigned different screen
angles in the Color Separation Setup
dialog box. See Specifying the halftone
screen ruling.
You cannot separate gradients as a com-
bination of custom (spot) and process
color plates because the spot color will
automatically be converted to black
or white for a process color gradient.
To print a gradient with both spot and
process colors from a separation pro-
gram, convert all spot colors to process
equivalents.
