If you plan to separate a color Illustrator
document, you should first set crop
marks in the artwork. You can reposition
the crop marks later either by deleting
the first set of crop marks and then set-
ting new crop marks, or by using the
Separation Setup dialog box to change
the existing crop marks.

the image to be separated.
To set crop marks directly in artwork:
1
Draw a rectangle to define the bound-
aries of where you want the crop marks
to appear.
2 Select the rectangle.
3 Choose Object > Cropmarks > Make.
This command is available only when a
rectangle is selected. Crop marks
replace the selected rectangle.
Once you set crop marks, you cannot
select them. You can, however, release
them using the Release Cropmarks com-
mand. You can also set new crop marks
without releasing the old ones; the new
crop marks replace the old ones.
