Copying a linked type container
If you run out of room for type in a con-
tainer, you can create a copy of the con-
tainer for overflow type.

containers.
To create a linked copy of a type
container:
1
If you are not already in Artwork
view, choose View > Artwork.
2 Select the direct-selection tool , and
position the pointer on the type con-
tainer. Make sure the baselines aren’t
selected.
3 Hold down the Option key and drag
the copy of the container to where you
want to position it. Hold down the Shift
key to constrain the tool to multiples of
45 degrees.
4 When the new type container is in
position, release the mouse button, and
then the Option and Shift keys. It is
important to release the mouse button
before you release the Option and
Shift keys.
