changed using keyboard shortcuts. See

You can use various shortcuts to enter
values in the Character and Paragraph
palettes.
• To apply a value in a text box to the
selected type and remain in the same
text box in the palette, press the Enter
key.
• To apply a value in a text box to the
selected type and move to the next text
box in the palette, press the Tab key.
To open the Character or Paragraph
palette:
Select one of the following options:
• Choose Type > Character.
• Choose Window > Show Character.
• Choose Type > Paragraph.
• Choose Window > Show Paragraph.
