Using the Hard filter
The Hard filter mixes two or more colors
from overlapping objects. The mix color
is created by combining the highest
CMYK value from each color in the selec-
tion. For example, if Color 1 is created
from 20% cyan, 66% magenta, 40% yel-
low, and 0% black; and Color 2 is created
from 40% cyan, 20% magenta, 30% yel-
low, and 10% black; the resulting hard
mix color is 40% cyan, 66% magenta,
40% yellow, and 10% black.
To mix colors by combining their
highest CMYK values:

Select the objects whose colors you
want to mix.
2 Choose Filter > Pathfinder > Hard.
3 To convert any custom colors to
process colors in the selected objects,
select the Convert Custom Colors to
Process option.
4 Click OK.
