ADOBE ENCORE DVD
Classroom in a Book
Using the pick whip
So far, you have used two different methods to create links from buttons to menus and
timelines: choosing a link destination from the Specify Link dialog box, or from the pop-
up menu in the Properties palette. Adobe Encore DVD also offers a more visual way to
create links: the pick whip. If you’ve used the pick whip in Adobe GoLive or Adobe After
Effects, the pick whip in Adobe Encore DVD will seem familiar.
Yo u’ll start by linking the Back button to the Outtakes_main menu.
1 Click the Outtakes_Indiv tab in the Menu Editor window. If the tab isn’t available,
double-click the Outtakes_Indiv menu in the Project window.
2 With the selection tool, select the Back button in the Menu Editor window. Ensure that
the attributes for the Back button are displayed in the Properties palette.
3 Arrange your screen so that you can see both the Properties palette and the Project
window.
4 Click the pick whip icon ( ) on the left side of the Link field, and drag it to the
Outtakes_main menu in the Project window. When a box appears around
Outtakes_main, release the mouse button.
