Tutorial: Helping Atmosphere Recognize Your Card
If the Player displays Software as the Active Renderer in the Display tab of the Preferences palette, it means that
Atmosphere did not recognize your video chipset (the graphics processor on your video card). You may be able to
confi gure Atmosphere to recognize your video chip set by manually entering it into its list of supported devices.
Atmosphere uses a confi guration le called AtmoHWConfi g.txt, which lists all the video cards it knows about. For a
default installation, you will fi nd this fi le in the C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Media Player\Components\
directory.
If not, search your system for the fi le named AtmoHWConfi g.txt.
To instruct Atmosphere to recognize your video chipset for hardware acceleration, follow these steps.
1 First, make sure that Atmosphere and all instances of the Player are closed.
2 Open the AtmoHWConfi g.txt fi le in a text editor. The fi le lists manufacturer and chipset information. Each entry
