Optimization Techniques

If you intend to place your Atmosphere environment on the web, you may wish to optimize the ﬁ le before publishing.

Optimized ﬁ les will be smaller and download faster. Optimized ﬁ les embedded in PDF documents can help keep

them smaller, too.. Optimizing usually means some tradeoffs between quality and ﬁ le size, so it’s best to frequently

check your work to make sure you’re not sacriﬁ cing too much quality.

Several techniques can help keep your ﬁ le sizes manageable, including:

• Reduce the size of textures.

• Use compressed JPEG images wherever you can.

• Use low polygon meshes where possible.

• Split complex environments up into smaller environments linked using Portals.

• Enable the Save Files in Compressed Format option in the Preferences dialog box.
