ADOBE ATMOSPHERE 171
User Guide
The progress bars track the Percent of Light Remaining, the Percent of Surfaces Remaining and the Percent of Current
Surface Remaining and are meant to help you judge how long the lighting will take.
During lighting and once a scene has been lit, you can alter the Scene Brightness using the Scene Brightness control at
the bottom of the Lighting Controls palette.
You cannot alter the Scene Brightness setting after closing and reopening the project fi le exiting without fi rst
recalculating lighting..
Lighting Settings
Under the Settings tab you can select which light sources are used to calculate shadows. Multiple light sources will
make shadows appear softer.
If you are creating an indoor scene such as the interior of a building, be sure to disable Calculate Light for Sun and
Background. This will speed up the computation.
The Lighting Threshold value determines a threshold below which light energy will no longer be distributed.
For example, a Lighting Threshold of 20 will stop computing bounced light after 80 percent of the light has been
distributed.
The Settings tab of the Lighting Control palette lets you choose which lighting sources to include.
You can continue to navigate in the Player view even though lighting computations are in process. The Update
Frequency setting in the Lighting Control palette will determine how many surfaces are calculated before the Player
View is updated.
i
If the Player view isn’t active, the refresh rate is set to 1 frame per second. This will speed up the lighting calculations.
