Objects can be rotated around any point.
Tutorial: Tilting a Top
To create and rotate a top, follow these steps.
1 Select File > New (Ctrl+N) to make a new fi le.
2 In the Solid Object Editor, press F5 to select a Top view.
3 In the Solid Objects toolbar, click on the Cone object and then click in the Top view to create a single Cone object.
Set its Faces value to 12, its Top Radius to 5 and its Bottom Radius to 1.
4 Create a second Cone object for the top’s upper half with 12 Faces, a Top Radius of 1 and a Bottom Radius of 5.
5 Create a third Cone object for the top’s tip with 12 Faces, a Top Radius of 1 and a Bottom Radius of 0.
6 For the top’s stem, create a Column object with 12 Faces and a Radius of 1.
7 Select the Front view by pressing the F6 key. Select the Weld Connectors option in the Options toolbar and set the
Weld Distance to 1 ft.
8 Drag the pieces so they align vertically and drag appropriate connectors to vertically size the pieces appropriately.
Notice that some of the connectors are welded and others are not.
9 Press the F7 key to select the Right view. Now you can see why some of the connectors weren’t welded. Again align
the top parts vertically and all connectors should weld together.
