5 VIDEO MANAGEMENT
5.1 Introduction
The back of the keyboard is provided with a VIDEO connector to control the video devices. It is necessary to
set up both the keyboard and the controlled device appropriately, because the same communication protocol
and communication rate (baudrate) should be selected for each of them.
If these parameters are configured incorrectly communication between the devices is impossible.
T he specifications of the various controllable devices differ according to the model and are given in the
following pages of this manual:
5.1.1 Video: fundamental concepts
The DCT keyboard is used for two fundamental types of operation to control the video signal:
selecting a camera on the active monitor
starting a preset switching sequence on the active monitor
All operations requested by the keyboard refer to the active monitor, which is always indicated on the display.
Camera selection is subject to the configuration of the accepted cameras. If a camera has not been accepted the
selection attempt will give rise to an error message.
Note that not all functions are accepted by the various video devices (switchers and matrixes). If an
unacceptable function is requested for a video device, an error message will warn the operator that it is
impossible to carry out the command.
The DCT keyboard is able to control various types of systems and therefore the appearance of the
video/telemetry control area will differ according to the chosen configuration and the device under selection.
T here are three distinct situations:
a matrix connected to the VIDEO connector
a multiplexer connected to the VIDEO connector
a matrix connected to the VIDEO connector and a multiplexer/DVR connected in cascade to the matrix
