6 TELEMETRY
6.1 Direct control and control using video systems
The new series of switchers ENEO EKR-8/4, EKR-16/4 and SM VIDEOTEC can be used to create three types
of telemetry control systems:
traditional connection with one video line and two distinct telemetry lines
connection via video matrix and controls on the matrix AUX output
connection via video matrix and controls on the video signal cable of the device.
TRADITIONAL
Traditional type of control, with the keyboard controlling two distinct communication
channels: receiver R1 is controlled by keyboard line A; the VIDEO line controls the
matrix.
ADVANTAGES: the video cable of camera C1 can pass through video signal
management devices such as video multiplexers, video distributors, transmitters via
twisted pair, etc.
DISADVANTAGES: The keyboard has two output cables.
VIA MATRIX AUX
Telemetry is controlled via the video matrix AUX output.
The matrix should be configured to retransmit the telemetry messages.
The telemetry line A (or B) is configured to transmit messages along the video cable,
so that the A (or B) connector on the back of the keyboard cannot be used to address
other telemetry devices but should be left disconnected.
ADVANTAGES: The keyboard has only one output cable.
The video cable of camera C1 can pass through video signal management devices such
as video multiplexers, video distributors, transmitters via twisted pair, etc.
DISADVANTAGES: Only the MACRO protocol can be used for communication
between the keyboard and the matrix.
VIA VIDEO CABLE
Telemetry is controlled by output signals from the video matrix along the video signal
coaxial cable.
The matrix should be configured to retransmit the telemetry messages in FSK protocol
along the video input cables. The video cables from the receivers to the matrix cannot
pass through any device (e.g. video distributors) and must be direct.
The telemetry line A (or B) is configured to transmit messages along the video cable,
so that the A (or B) connector on the back of the keyboard cannot be used to address
other telemetry devices but should be left disconnected.
ADVANTAGES: The keyboard has only one output cable.
DISADVANTAGES: The system only functions when receiver R1 is provided with the
DTCOAX decoder card (only VIDEOTEC protocol).
The receiver must be configured locally.
Communication from the keyboard to the matrix can only use the MACRO protocol.
