INSTALLING CP/M ON THE IDE, SATA HARD DRIVES OR CF CARDS
Now that you have a H8/H89-Z67-IDE DISK CONTROLLER, all you need is a WH8-37 or a Z-89-67
controller with the SASI bus and a bootable (QSBIOS system disk) floppy disk with all the files.
Instructions on how to download the QS Utilities are at the following website;
http://koyado.com/Heathkit/Z67-IDE.html
Note: For those H8 users who do not have a WH8-37 controller, a SASI H8-Z67 controller interface is
being design to work with this controller and Les’s Z80 card. Also in the works is the H89-Z67 SASI
controller as well. Please send email to: norby@koyado.com to check on the controller availability.
I encourage using two IDE's, SATA's or CF's cards in order to use the second disk as a backup
device. I will walk through the process on how to boot from either hard drive, but first I will like
to discuss what IDE configurations have been tested.
Configuration 1:
- Two IDE hard drives. Any Manufacturer IDE hard drive passed the tests.
Configuration 2:
- Two CF cards using the Dual Embedded IDE-CF adapter from Addonics Technologies.
- Cards tested: SanDisk Ultra II Type I, 8GB, 4GB, 512MB (Hitachi XXM2.3.0), and 2GB. Kingston
2GB Type I elite pro cards. 2G - TRANS CF TS2GCF133
- Card that failed: CF Type II card adapter for SDHC/MMC. This is a wireless adapter.
Configuration 3:
- Two SATA SSD hard drives using the IDE to SATA drive Motherboard adapter by StarTech.com.
- SATA SSD hard drive tested: Dell 50GB Model: SAMSUNG MCCOE50G5MPQ-0VAD3
