SECTION 7 Installing Unison
7.1 Installation Requirements
Before and during installation, keep in mind the following sources of potential prob-
lems:
• Faulty cabling/connector
• Dirty connectors and ports
• Malfunction of one or more Unison components
• Antenna, base station, or repeater problem
• External RF interface
• Tripped circuit breaker
• Equipment is not grounded
• Using a Null modem cable that does not support full hardware handshaking when
using AdminManager
NOTE: Faulty cabling is the cause of a majority of problems. All Cat-5E/6 cable
should be tested to TIA/EIA 568-A specifications. The RAU will be damaged if the
cable is not wired correctly.
