7.4.3 Installing RAUs and Passive Antennas
CAUTION: Install RAUs in indoor locations only.
Installing RAUs
Mount all RAUs in the locations marked on the floor plans.
Considerations:
• Install iDEN and 800 MHz cellular RAUs so that their antennas will be at
least 6 to 8 meters (20 to 26 feet) apart. Separation is required to reduce signal
interference between the two frequency bands.
• Keep at least
76 mm (3 in.) clearance around the RAU to ensure proper venting
• Always mount the RAU with the unpainted mounting face against the mounting
surface
Attaching the Optional RAU Dust Cover
Use the optional RAU dust cover (PN UNS-1RDP-1) when installing the RAU in an
area where excessive dust or debris could enter its venting holes.
To attach the optional RAU dust cover:
1. Firmly insert the four mounting pegs into the four corners on the top side of the
RAU, as shown in the following diagram.
2. Position the dust cover over the mounting pegs and press to snap into place.
