Fan Module Maintenance
UsethefollowingproceduretoremoveandreplacethePRUFanModule:
1 ReadallinstructionsandproceduresofthissectionpriortobeginningworktoreplaceFanModule.
2 OrderaPrismRemoteUnitFanReplacementKit,catalognumberFWP-RUFAN001.
3 NotifytheNOCoralarmmonitoringsystemoperatorthattheFanModuleisbeingreplaced,which
willgeneratefanandpoweralarmsfortheaffectedPRU.
4 PowerdownthePRUandwaituntilthefansspindowntoastop.
5 PutonanESDwriststrapandensurethatitmakesmaximumcontactwithbareskinthroughoutthis
procedure.ESDgroundingstrapsareavailablewithbananaplugs,metalspringclips,oralligator
clips.Toensureadequategrounding,theESDwriststrapshouldbeconnectedtoanybaremetal
surfaceofthePRUchassis,ortotheDual-GroundConnectoratthebottomoftheunit.Forfurther
informationontheDual-GroundConnector,see"PortsandConnectors”onpage7.
NOTE: It may be necessary to scrape a small section of the coating off the Prism Remote Unit chassis
to ensure connection to a bare metal surface.
6 LoosenthetwoscrewsthatsecuretheFanModule
CoveratthetopofthePRUchassistothefrontof
theenclosureasshowninthegraphictotheright.
7 Openthefancoverbyrotatingitupandbackonits
hinges.
8 DothefollowingbeforeyoulifttheFanModuleout
ofthePRUchassis:
a Inspect,cleananddrythetopsurface
surroundingthefanconnector.
b Loosenthetwocaptivescrewsthatsecurethe
FanModuletothePRUchassis.
c DisconnecttheFanModulepowercableby
rotatingitscouplingnutcounter-clockwise
untilthereceptaclecanbeliftedoffits
bulkheadplug.
