multi‐mode).
2 Secureboththefiberc
ableandtheSC/APCpigtailinasplicetrayportionofafiber
distributionpanel.
3 Prepare
thefiberendbycuttingbackthepolyethylenejacket,thekevlarorfiberglassstrength
members,theextrudedcoating,andthebuffercoatinginordertoexposethe“barefiber”–
claddingpluscore.
4 Ensuret
hatsufficientslackismaintainedinordertobeabletoreachtheFusionWideband
splicer.
5 Clean
theuncladfibercoreusingisopropylalcoholandlint‐freewipes.
6 Cleav
etheuncladfibertothelengthprescribedbytheFusionWidebandsplicer’s
specificationsheets.
7 RepeatStep3throughStep6fortheSC/APCpigtail.
8 Passthesplicesleeveontothefiberstrand.
9 Positionbot
hfiberendsintheFusionWidebandsplicerandcompletespliceinaccordance
withtheFusionWidebandsplicer’soperationinstructions.
10 Ensuret
hattheestimatedlossforthespliceasmeasuredbytheFusionWidebandspliceris
0.10dBorbetter.
11 SlidetheFusionWidebandsp
licingsleeveoverthepointoftheFusionWidebandsplice.
12 Pla
cethesleeveandfusedfiberintotheFusionWidebandsplicer’sheater.
13 All
owtimeforthesplicesleevetocure.
14 Returnfibersplice
tothesplicetray,storethesleeveinaspliceholderwithinthetray,and
storeexcesscablelengthinaccordancewiththetraymanufacture’sdirections.
