SAFETYPRECAUTIONS
InstallationGuidelines
UsethefollowingguidelineswheninstallingTEequipment:
1 Providesufficientairflowandcoo
lingtotheequipmenttopreventheatbuild‐upfrom
exceedingthemaximumambientairtemperaturespecification.Donotcompromisethe
amountofairflowrequiredforsafeoperationoftheequipment.
2 Ifyou
areremovingthesystem,turnitoffandremovethepowercordfirst.Thereareno
user‐serviceablepartsinsidethecomponents.
3 The
internalpowersupplieshaveinternalfusesthatarenotuserreplaceable.Considerthe
worst‐casepowerconsumptionshownontheproductlabelswhenprovisioningthe
equipment’sACpowersourceanddistribution.
4 Verifyt
hattheHubisgroundedproperlyusingtheACpowercordthirdwireground.
CAUTION! Becarefulwiththemechanicalloadingoftherackmountedhub.Mounttheequipmentinthe
rack in such a way that a hazardous condition, due to uneven mechanical loading, does not
result.
GeneralSafetyPrecautions
ThefollowingprecautionsapplytoTEproducts:
• Theunitshavenouser‐serviceable
parts.Faultyorfailedunitsarefullyreplaceablethrough
TE.TocontactTE,see“AppendixD:ContactingTEConnectivity”onpage229.
• Wh
enyouconnectthefiberopticcable,cleanallopticalfiberSC/APCconnectorsaccordingto
thecablemanufacturer’sinstructions.
• Wh
enyouconnectaradiatingantennatoanRAU,firmlyhand‐tightentheNconnector–
DONOTo
ver‐tightentheconnector.
CAUTION! Toreducetheriskoffireorelectricshock,donotexposethisequipmenttorainormoisture.The
componentsareintendedforindooruseonly.DonotinstalltheRAUoutdoors.Donotconnect
an RAU to an antenna that is located outdoors whereit could be subject to lightningstrikes,
po
wercrosses,orwind.
• TheExpansionHubandRAUunitsaredesignedforintra‐buildingcablingonly.Outdoor
routingofanycablingtotheseunitsshallnotexceed140feet.
CAUTION! Outdoorcablesfartherthan140feetmustbeinstalledwithproperlightningprotection.
