CAUTION! InstallRAUsinindoorlocationsonly.Donotconnectanantennathatisinstalledinanoutdoor
locationtoanRAU.Foroutdoorinstallations,aprotectiveenclosureisrequired.
NOTE: Thefollow
ingprocedures assume thatthesystemis newfrom the factoryand thatitha s not
beenprogrammedwithbands.Ifyouarereplacingcomponentsinapre‐installedsystemwith
either new units or units that may already be program med (for example, re‐using units from
anothersystem),referto“ReplacingFu
sionWidebandComponents”onpage175.
MountallRAUsinthelocationsmarkedonthefloorplans.
• Install
800iDENand850/1900MHzRAUssothattheirantennaswillbeseparatedbyenough
spacetoreducesignalinterferencebetweenthe800and850bands.Referto“800/850MHz
IsolationRequirements”onpage134forrecommendeddistan
cebetweenantennas.
• You
canplacetheunit,withoutitsfasteninghardware,onaflatsurface,suchasashelf,desk,
cabinet,oranyotherhorizontalsurfacethatallowsstableplacementwiththemountingbase
facingdowntothemountingsurface.Formountingtootherlocations(thatis,walls,ceilings,
poles)theRAUmustbesecurelymountedusingthe4slottedmountingholesprovidedwith
#6diameterfasteners.Thismethodofmountingmustsecurelyholdaminimumof7lbs.load.
• Attachthe
RAUsecurelytoastationaryobject(thatis,awall,pole,orceilingtile).
• Forproperventilation:
– Keepatleast
76mm(3in.)clearancearoundtheRAUtoensureproperventing.
– DonotstackRAUsontopofeacho
ther.
– Alwa
ysmounttheRAUwiththesolidface(containingthemountingholes)againstthe
mountingsurface.
Refertothemanufacturer’sinstalla
tioninstructionstoinstallpassiveantennas.
Location
Passiveantennasareusuallyinstalledbelowtheceiling.Iftheyareinstalledabovetheceiling,you
mustconsidertheadditionallossduetotheceilingmaterialwhenestimatingtheantenna
coveragearea.
