Figure 2-3. CXD RAN Cabinet
Provides a point for terminating the coaxial antenna cable, the fiber optic cable, the
AC power cable, and ground cable.
Provides AC power surge protection
Provides lightning protection
Provides limited storage for fiber optic pigtails.
The RAN cabinet is weather-tight but contact with salt-air mist should be avoided as it may
degrade the MTBF of the product. The cabinet can be mounted from a flat-vertical surface or
from a utility pole (requires pole-mount kit). Slots within the RAN Chassis are designated for
particular modules.
2 ELEMENTS COMMON TO HUB AND RAN
This section describes the various modules, controls and indicators that are common between
the Hub and RAN.
2.1 CPU
The Hub CPU installs into the Digital Chassis and is a cPCI single board computer running
LINUX. The Hub Master CPU performs the Master Hub Process controlling all Tenant
specific functions, and manages a subset of Hub hardware including RF and Digital
equipment. Each CPU controls up to seven (7) non-CPU Digital Chassis modules.
