If you wish to use a switch to control
this program you will need either a
KEYBOARD switch interface (ie. one
that makes your switch act like a
keyboard key press) or a MOUSE
switch interface (ie. one that makes
your switch act like a mouse click) such
as a switch adapted mouse.
Interface:
Direct access by mouse, trackball,
joystick, touch screen or keyboard. 
With mouse access, use point and click
or dwell select.
Scanning access using 1-5 switches,
with auditory and visual scanning.
Choose from automatic, inverse or step
scanning.
Button magnification for users with low
vision.
Access:
Create communication pages with
symbols, digital pictures, words or
phrases. Each message square can
contain a whole sentence or a single
word, allowing you to build up
sentences. Pages can be linked
together electronically, for example,
when you press a message that says
"I'm hungry" the computer screen
can change to a list of food choices.
The programme also has spelling
pages with alphabetic, QWERTY or
frequency of use layouts. Use word
prediction and abbreviation expansion
to increase speed and accuracy.
The software comes with more than
150 sample interactive boards and
more than 100 interactive templates.
You can also buy one of the
page sets listed under 'Titles Available'.
Generating Language:
Use any digital photo, symbol or text on
your communication display. You
can add your own gif, jpeg or other
electronic pictures. 
You can add Picture Communication
Symbols (PCS) and design your
communication boards using the
Boardmaker programme. Boardmaker
is also a great communication option
for creating 'low tech' communication
boards, paper resources and teaching
aids.

TALK Boards
Designed for users who can read,
these 700+ boards provide vocabulary
for conversation. Users can create and
save stories to tell later on or quickly
access phrases with personal
information and "chat" messages.
Word Power
Is a word-based vocabulary design that
is now available for SD Pro.
WordPower is a word-based
vocabulary that combines core
vocabulary, spelling, and word
prediction. There are four components
included with WordPower:
• WordPower for text users.
• Picture WordPower for users who
need picture cues.
• Scanning WordPower.
• Scanning Picture WordPower.

There is a range of options to consider
when choosing a synthesiser to work
with your Words+ programme. What
you choose will largely depend on your
computer. Use this guide to help make
your choice.
1) No Speech Option - Choose this if
you are only using EZKeys for
computer access and do not need the
communication features. A full
description of this option is in the
Computer Access section.
2) Windows Default Speech - If your
computer has good quality synthesised
speech built in, you may not need to
buy additional synthesiser. The
synthesiser must be "SAPI compliant."
3) DECtalk or Eloquence Software -
Choose one of these if your computer
does not have a good synthesiser built
in.
4) Micro CommPac - Adds an extra
speaker to your computer and houses
the SoftKey. Comes with either
DECtalk or Eloquence software. The
Micro CommPac does not work as a
stand-alone synthesiser for your
computer. You must purchase either
EZKeys or Talking Screen to use it.
If you have already purchased EZKeys
or Talking Screen and want to add a
Micro CommPac or change your
synthesiser, an upgrade charge
applies.
