scanning access.
LightWRITER SL87:
For users with changing access needs.
It has a keyboard for direct access and
a scanning keyboard built in. This
allows users whose needs fluctuate
over time to change access methods
as needed. This model has a large
display screen so may also be suitable
for people with vision impairments.
LightWRITER SL87, SL85 &
SL85 Acapela
LightWRITER SL85:
Accessed by 1 or 2 switches, and
provides visual and auditory scanning.
It comes with a plug-in keyboard to
allow easier programming by carers.
Comes with DECtalk speech. 
LightWRITER SL85 Acapela:
The same as the LightWRITER SL85,
but with the Acapela HQ speech
synthesiser (US English) instead of
DECtalk. Features two high quality
natural sounding voices (one adult
male & one adult female). 
Additional languages are available for
LightWRITER SL85 Acapela - German,
Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish,
Swedish, Norwegian.

Use the “Persona” software for
communication. Type messages using
the regular keyboard or one of the on-
screen keyboards. Faster
communication can be achieved by
using word prediction, word
completion, phrase retrieval and
abbreviation expansion.
Generating Language:
Computer generated DECtalk speech
provides a choice of 9 different voice
personalities.
Speech:
A “Pocket Windows” computer that has
been modified to create a portable
communication device with direct
keyboard or switch scanning
access. The Polyana 4 comes with the
“Persona” software, which enables
users to type messages and select
whole messages from a “phrase bank”.
The device has the option of providing
access to other mainstream computer
software applications such as MS
Wordpad, Spread CE, a calculator and
MP-3 Player. The Polyana 4 is not
suitable for people or situations in
which it is likely to be dropped or
receive very “heavy” use.
