Use spelling with word prediction,
Minspeak or dynamic display
communication pages that are
electronically linked
together. Communication pages may
have 4, 8, 15, 45 or 84 symbol squares
per page.
The Vantage comes with a range of
communication pages suitable for
users of all ages:
Generating Language:
The Vantage comes with a variety of
symbol or word overlays.
It has a library of 2000 pictures for use
on the touch screen, plus you may add
your own digital photographs and other
images.
You can add on a Picture
Communication Symbol library. "PCS"
are the type of symbols found in the
Boardmaker programme.
Symbols:
Now comes with RealSpeak Australian
voices (male and female). DECtalk
speech also available, providing a
choice of 10 voices. Up to 50 minutes
of recorded messages can be added.
Speech:
The Notebook function allows you to
save large blocks of text, such as
speeches or homework. You can load
notebooks on to a computer for editing,
then download the text file back in to
the Pathfinder.
Activities:
A powerful yet portable communication
device, the Vantage Plus has a
dynamic display touch screen and can
be used as a Minspeak, spelling or
levels device. It can be plugged in and
used as a computer keyboard, and can
learn infrared commands to control
appliances such as a TV or video.
Vantage Plus
The Vantage has recently been
updated. It now comes with the
Notebook feature allowing you to take
notes or prepare longer speeches for
presentations. It now has a brighter
screen and an option to use a built in
headpointer. You can now backup
your device and transfer notebook files
using a USB memory stick.

There are a range of access options
including:
• 4-, 8-, 15-, 45- and 84 location
display options with
optional keyguards to aid clients in
accurate direct selection.
• Scanning access options including
single and dual switch access.
• Joystick, mouse or trackball.
• Auditory prompts.
• An innovative integrated
headpointing system that utilizes
Madentec's Tracker One
technology. The user wears a tiny
adhesive dot on their forehead to
activate this system - there is no need
for headbands or cables.
• USB and serial ports to
accommodate other external
headpointing solutions.
• Icon prediction helps the user to
recall messages by fading out pictures
where no message is stored.
Access:
• WordCore
A word-based program designed to
work with either 45 keys or 84 keys. It
uses a combination of spelling, word
prediction and frequently used
words. It is faster than regular spelling
and cuts down on the number of
keystrokes needed to type messages.
• Unity Enhanced (45 Location)
Unity allows you to create words and
phrases by combining pictures
together. 32 Unity Icons are shown on
the Vantage touch screen, each
representing a different language
concept or category. For example, the
Rainbow icon represents the concept
of colour and art related
vocabulary. When you press the
Rainbow icon, the Vantage screen
changes to show you a choice of
colours and other related words.
The top row of pictures on the Vantage
screen can be used to display
vocabulary used in special activities,
which may not be used frequently. For
example, there is a special activity
called "Circle Time" that would only be
used as part of the morning routine. 

This version of Unity uses 84
icons/keys and allows the user to
access a large amount of vocabulary.
