Use Minspeak, or create "dynamic
display" communication pages that can
be electronically linked together.
There are many options for setting up
communication pages:
• Pre-made Minspeak pages, with 32
pictures on a page. These pictures are
organised in to categories such as
food, drink, feelings, people and
places.
• Sample vocabulary pages for people
who need larger symbols. Pages can
be set up with 4, 8, 15, or 32 pictures
per page.
A message display shows the word or
phrase assigned to each symbol. This
can aid in the development of reading
and spelling skills.
Vocabulary can be transferred to a
Vantage or Vanguard when the
individual is ready to move to a more
complex device with synthesised
speech and spelling capabilities.
Generating Language:
There are over 3000 Minsymbols that
you can use to customise these pages,
and you can add your own digital
photographs or other images.
The SpringBoard can be purchased
with a Picture Communication Symbol
library pre-loaded. "PCS" are the type
of symbols found in the Boardmaker
programme.
Symbols:
Up to 60 minutes of recorded speech.
Speech:
This portable communication aid has a
full colour "dynamic" display touch
screen and recorded speech
output. With flexible options for access
and communication, the SpringBoard
Plus is designed to suit a wide range of
clients. It comes with a variety of pre-
made communication pages but it is
also easy to design your own
pages. The SpringBoard Plus comes
with Minspeak icons. Optional Picture
Communication Symbols (PCS) library,
including approximately 5000 symbols.
You can back up the device using
a USB memory stick.

The headpointing system that utilizes
Madentec's Tracker One
technology. The user wears a tiny
adhesive dot on their forehead to
activate this system - there is no need
for headbands or cables.
Auditory scanning prompts can be
customised.
Icon Prediction shows where
messages are stored. If a message
square is "greyed out," no message is
stored in that square.
The Predictive Selection feature
prevents a user from accidentally
activating squares where no message
is stored. The Springboard will ignore
any key presses if there is no message
stored in that space.
The set of 3 clear plastic keyguards
includes an 8, 15 and 32 location
keyguard.

Access:
The Swan will run any communication
software that is compatible with
Windows XP Professional, such as The
Grid 2, Speaking Dynamically Pro (with
Boardmaker), VS Communicator, Wivik
3 or Picture Master Language Software
(PMLS). PMLS comes with a pre-
recorded library of digitised (recorded)
speech files. You can also record your
own messages.
Generating Language:
Use your choice of communication
symbols, depending on your
communication software.
Picture Master Language Software
(PMLS) lets you choose from the
following symbol formats: photos, line
drawings (colour or black and white),
realistic drawings (colour or black and
white) or animated symbols.
Symbols:
Digitised (recorded) or synthesised
(computer generated) speech
capabilities.
Speech:
A Windows XP computer which can be
used as a stand-alone tablet-style
dynamic display communication device
or positioned in an adjustable
stand. Add your own communication
software and directly access the device
(through the touchscreen) or add a
USB switch interface for scanning.
External speakers provide extra
volume when the Swan is positioned in
the stand.
