AlphaBetic - This provides a quick
introduction to the software. Using the
guide, a literate adult should be able to
begin using AQLS AlphaBetic
immediately and, in an hour become
familiar with all the application features.
• "15 Hours to Fluency" lesson plans
for AQLS Iconic.
Moisture Guards - ("Switchskins") Use
this moulded plastic cover over your
Pathfinder keyboard to prevent
damage caused by dirt or moisture
entering the keyboard.
Accessories:
Pathfinder Productivity Bundle - gives
you access to a range of WindowsCE
Applications, using your Pathfinder as
both keyboard and mouse.

Pathfinder is a communication device
featuring a static keyboard and built in
dynamic display touch screen and has
recently been updated with these new
features:
• Built-in headpointing via the
integrated TrackerOne system
(Optional extra).
• Functional USB ports for connecting
peripherals and performing memory
transfer functions.
• Enhanced calculator.
• Ability to import small WAV files.
Pathfinder Plus with Unity
Generate messages using Minspeak
symbols, key linking or spelling with
word prediction. The Pathfinder comes
with a choice of language programmes
that are designed for users of all ages:
• AQLS - Adult Quick Learning
System
Designed for adults with acquired
disabilities, AQLS enables users to
create novel words and sentences with
fewer keystrokes. It uses a
combination of spelling with word
prediction and key linking to produce
commonly used words and
phrases. For example, press the key
labelled "We" then the letter "L" to
generate the phrase "We like." There
are 2 versions of AQLS included in the
package: the AlphaBetic and Iconic
(symbol based).
• WordPower
Generating Language:
The Pathfinder comes with a variety of
symbol or word overlays. 
It has a library of 2000 pictures for use
on the touch screen, plus you may add
your own digital photographs and other
images.
Symbols:
Now comes with RealSpeak Australian
voices (male and female). DECtalk
speech also available, providing a
choice of 10 voices. You can also add
up to 60 minutes of recorded
messages, including WAV files.
Aussie voices upgrade available for
existing Pathfinder Plus users.
Speech:
Includes a clock with time and date,
and a simple, four function calculator.
The Notebook function allows you to
save large blocks of text, such as
speeches or homework. You can load
notebooks on to a computer for editing,
then download the text file back in to
the Pathfinder.
Activities:
Standard features still include a choice
of vocabulary programmes for spelling
or symbol users and built-in
environmental control capabilities,
giving users the ability to operate
appliances such at a TV or VCR. The
Pathfinder can also provide full
keyboard and mouse control of a
Windows or Macintosh computer.

105 most commonly used words
combined with key linking, spelling and
word prediction.
• Unity 128 and Unity 32
Pathfinder includes two versions of
Unity: a 32 key version for beginning
communicators and a version for the
128 location keyboard. Unity allows
you to create words and phrases by
combining pictures together. Each
picture on the Unity overlay represents
a different language concept or
category. For example, the Rainbow
icon represents the concept of colour
and art related vocabulary. When you
combine the Rainbow icon with the
Frog icon and the Adjective
(paintbrush) icon, you get the word
"Green." For users who have difficulty
combining symbols this way, they may
alternatively choose the word by
pressing a picture on the Pathfinder's
touch screen.
