Message buttons are 1 x 1cm.
Size:
Internal rechargeable battery and
charger supplied. When fully charged,
B.A.Bar can "speak" for about 10
hours.
Power:
Direct access by pointing B.A.Bar at a
barcode sticker, and by pressing one of
the 4 message buttons.
Access:
The message associated with each
barcode sticker is determined by the
person setting up the device. Each
message could be a sound, word,
sentence, phrase or longer message. 
You can stick B.A.Bar's barcode labels
anywhere: on real objects, on a
wheelchair tray, on a "low tech"
communication book or folder, on the
walls or in a favourite book. This
allows you to turn "real" environmental
objects into a communication system.
There are also 4 buttons on B.A.Bar's
case that you can press to play
frequently needed messages.
Generating Language:
B.A.Bar comes with 3000 bar code
stickers that you can stick on any
communication system e.g. picture
displays, real objects.
Symbols:
Record up to 32 minutes of speech.
Speech:
B.A.Bar is a hand held device that
reads barcode stickers. To play a
message back, simply point B.A.Bar at
a barcode sticker - it will then play back
your pre-recorded message.

Create overlays using symbols or
photos to represent each stored
message. You can make overlays
using Picture Master Language
Software (PMLS) or another software
program. 
Using Picture Master Language
Software (PMLS), you can create
overlays for the Bluebird 2 from
approximately 3,600 symbols. Choose
from the following symbol formats:
photos, line drawings (colour or black
and white) or realistic drawings (colour
or black and white). Print these
overlays and put them into the plastic
flip book style overlay sheets provided.
Each symbol in PMLS has an attached
digital voice recording, or you can
record your own speech files. 
The overlay set, complete with sound
files, can then be saved directly to a CF
memory card and loaded into the
Bluebird 2. You can interchange cards
when you swap overlay sets to quickly
and easily swap between overlay sets
for different users or situations.
Symbols:
Recorded (digitised) speech.
Messages can be stored on a memory
card (512 Megabyte) via Picture Master
Language Software (PMLS) or can be
recorded directly into the Bluebird 2.
Recording time is dependent on the
memory card used.
Speech:
A recorded speech communication
device which works like a talking multi-
level communication book. To access
messages flip to the page you want
and press the corresponding level key
on the left side of the device.
