User`s guide

NOTE: This behavior differs from previous releases (v1.05 and older),
which supported other logical device types in Auto-Volume mode.
4.15 Cache Preservation Issues
o Documentation note: the following errata clarifies and supercedes
the description in the user's guide:
"With cache preservation enabled, the system preserves the
controller's DDR cache to prevent data loss in the event of
(1) a power failure or unsafe shutdown of external enclosures
while the host system, with the controller, still has power;
and (2) connectivity problems with drives."
o In this release, creating a RAID 0 with a 16K or 32K stripe
size is not supported if cache preservation is enabled.
4.16 Force Rebuild in CTRL-A/uEFI BIOS
With Automatic Failover disabled, Force Rebuild in the CTRL-A
(Legacy) BIOS fails if you insert a new drive in place of a
pulled member drive. (The logical drive rebuilds successfully
when the same member drive is pulled and reinserted.) In the
uEFI BIOS, Force Rebuild fails in both cases: inserting the
pulled member drive or inserting a new drive.
4.17 Linux Power Management Support
The Adaptec Series 6/7/8 controller driver does not implement
the PCI suspend/resume function to support Linux Kernel
Power Management.
4.18 hdparm Support
On Windows and Linux, the 'hdparm -i' command, used to set and
view ATA hard disk drive hardware parameters, is not supported
for direct-attached drives on Adaptec SAS controllers. Since
'hdparm -i' is designed for native libata/ide drivers,
the command is working as designed and the behavior is expected.
WORKAROUND: Use the 'hdparm -I' command instead.
4.19 HDA Mode Reset
Adaptec Series 7 and Adaptec Series 8 controllers are reset
using the HDA mode jumper on the controller board. If a HDA
reset is required, contact Adaptec Support for assistance.
