NAME csa − low-level module for Compaq SMART SCSI Array Controller

DESCRIPTION The csa module provides low-level interface routines between the common disk I/O sub-

system and the Compaq SMART SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) Array controll-

ers. The csa module can be conﬁgured for disk support for one or more host adapter

boards. Auto conﬁguration code determines if the adapter is present at the conﬁgured

address and what types of logical devices are conﬁgured on it.

CONFIGURATION The driver attempts to initialize itself in accordance with the information found in the

conﬁguration ﬁle, /kernel/drv/csa.conf and with the information recorded in theEISA

NVRAM

. Each controller can support up to eight logical devices. The number and sizes of

the logical devices are speciﬁed via the Compaq EISA Conﬁguration Utility (ECU).

The user-conﬁgurable items in csa.conf are:

product_id The EISA product ID and mask values which the controller will

use to detect the presence of a supportedSMART controller board.

This property is a comma separated list of ID and mask values.

Currently only theSMART board is supported. Althoughthis pro-

perty can be modiﬁed to include the product IDs of the older IDA,

IDA-2 and IAES boards, those boards are not ofﬁcially supported.

nccbs The number of buffers which the driver should allocate to each

controller board. The value speciﬁed should be between 16 and

255.
