Installation guide
6
You can connect up to 62 1394 devices to the AFW-4300 in
almost any configuration using either 6-to-6-pin or 6-to-4-pin
1394 cables.
If you have any problems while installing the AFW-4300, check
the following items first:
• Is the card seated evenly all the way into the PCI slot?
• Is bus mastering support provided and enabled for the PCI
slot containing the AFW-4300? (Check your motherboard
documentation for information on this.)
• Is your 1394 DV camcorder or device powered on?
• Is the 1394 cable properly connected to AFW-4300 and the
DV camcorder, or other 1394 device?
• Checked the Windows 2000 Event Log if you encounter
problems loading the drivers on your Windows 2000
operating system?
• Checked the troubleshooting section of your operating
system user manual?
• Checked the Software Tutorial and Read Me file on the CD if
you encounter any problems with the software?
• If the driver fails to load, moved the card to a different PCI
slot?
CONNECTING OTHER 1394 DEVICES
The AFW-4300 host adapter supports hot-plugging,
allowing 1394 devices to be attached and recognized even
when the computer is powered on.
Some peripheral manufacturers support hot-plugging
in different ways. Please see instructions for each device to
determine the best way to attach and mount the peripheral.
