Introduction Dear customer, Congratulations on choosing an ADAM Audio P11A nearfield monitor! ADAM loudspeakers are built for maximum quality reproduction and audio perfection. With the P11A you have selected a precise, high resolution speaker system that allows you to professionally evaluate audio recordings. This monitor meets highest expectations in sound quality and craftmansship. This manual is intended to provide you with information about your new ADAM.

1. Safety Instructions In case of a problem, please contact either your ADAM dealer or us. We are happy to help. Always refer servicing to qualified personnel and never attempt to repair this product yourself. Please read the following safety instructions before setting up your system. Keep the instructions for subsequent reference. Please heed the warnings and follow the instructions. Do not open the loudspeaker. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
1. Safety Instructions Always keep electrical equipment out of the reach of children. Always unplug sensitive electronic equipment during lightning storms. The monitor should be installed near the socket outlet and disconnection of the device should be easily accessible. To completely disconnect from AC mains, disonnect the power supply from the AC receptacle. Never use flammable or combustible chemicals for cleaning audio components.
2. Quick Start 2.2 Quick Start Before connecting the loudspeakers to your audio components and the power source make sure that both the loudspeakers and your audio system is switched off! a) Set all level controls fully counterclockwise. b) Connect the loudspeakers with your audio units: Use a XLR cable. The male plug goes into the loudspeaker, the female plug into your audio component. c) Check if the specified voltage matches the voltage of the power supply you use.
3. Speaker Placement 3.1 Vertical set up The P11A has been designed for a vertical set up. The speakers must be positioned on a firm ground or a stand. Figure 2: vertical set up 3.2 Hoizontal set up If you choose to use your speakers in horizontal position as indicated below, please make sure that the set up is mirror symmetrical, i.e. that the tweeters both face either the outsides or the insides. This is crucial for a precise stereo signal.
3. Speaker Placement 3.3 The Stereo Triangle If the loudspeaker is going to be used for stereo applications, the optimum listening position should be located in the middle of a stereo triangle. This means that your listening position will be located at the top of an imaginary equilateral triangle and the two loudspeakers should be placed at the other two points of this triangle. 3. Speaker Placement 3.5 Tweeter at the height of ears The Tweeter should be positioned approximately at the height of your ears. In case you need to position the speaker in a significant lower or higher position, the monitor should be angled accordingly. Figure 6: Tweeter at height of ears / speaker angling 3.6 General Recommendations/Advises Direct sound ways: There should be no obstacles in the way from the monitor to your ears. You should be able to see the speakers completely.
4. Controls/Speaker Adjustment 4.1 The Control Panel On the rear side you will find a control panel that allows detailed fine-tuning of your loudspeakers to your particular room acoustics and personal listening preferences. The following tips are intended to assist you at using the controls in the best manner. Figure 7: Control panel Room EQ > 6 kHz High Gain Room EQ < 150 Hz Input Gain Please note that using the controls may have a great impact on the overall sound characteristics of your loudspeakers.
4. Controls/Speaker Adjustment 4.3 High Gain Whereas the ‘Input Gain’ raises or lowers the overall input sensitivity up to +/-10 dB, the ‘High Gain’ works only within the frequency range of the tweeter (>1.800 Hz) only, raising or lowering up to +/-4 dB. 4.4 High / Low Shelving Figure 8 Figure 9 ROOM EQ >6 kHz for the high frequencies above 6 kHz ROOM EQ <150 Hz for the low frequencies below 150 Hz English The other two controls operate in a different manner.
5. Troubleshooting All ADAM products are designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards. However, if any problems with your speaker occur, we recommend to proceed as follows: 5.1 Problem: The LED shows normal operation (green) but there is either no or only a distorted audio signal. If both (all) speakers are affected, the reason can probably be found within the signal path. If only one speaker is affected, the problem will probably be within this speaker.
6. Maintenance Please switch the loudspeaker off before cleaning! Please note that the diaphragms build up a magnetic field. Do not play with magnetic items at close range to the diaphragms. Please make sure that no liquids get inside the cabinet. Do not spray any fluids on the speaker. Do not use a wet cloth for cleaning. Do not use flammable or acidly chemicals for cleaning. Do not touch the membranes of the loudspeakers. We recommend using a lint-free, damp cloth for cleaning.

1. Sicherheitshinweise Bitte versuchen Sie auf keinen Fall, dieses Produkt selbst zu reparieren und wenden Sie sich bei einem Problemfall an Ihren ADAM Vertragshändler oder direkt an uns. Wir helfen gerne! Bitte beachten Sie die folgenden Sicherheitshinweise, bevor Sie Ihre neuen Lautsprecher in Betrieb nehmen. Öffnen Sie die Monitore nicht. Gefahr eines Stromschlages! Es befinden sich keine wartungsbedürftigen Teile im Gehäuseinnern.
1. Sicherheitshinweise Zum Trennen des Gerätes vom Stromnetz schalten Sie den Netzschalter aus. Anschließend ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose. Der Netzschalter und -stecker müssen leicht erreichbar sein. Verwenden Sie stets geprüfte Kabel. Defekte Kabel sind häufig die Ursache für Störgeräusche verschiedener Art. Setzen Sie dieses Produkt nicht bei extremen Temperaturen ein (siehe 11.), ebenso wenig in feuer- oder explosionsgefährdeten Umgebungen.
2. Quick Start zur Inbetriebnahme 2.2 Inbetriebnahme Vergewissern Sie sich vor Anschluss der Kabel, dass sowohl die Lautsprecher (Netzschalter) als auch die betreffenden Komponenten Ihrer Audio-Anlage ausgeschaltet sind und stellen Sie die Lautstärke auf Minimum. a) Nehmen Sie nun die Verkabelung mit Ihrer Signalquelle vor: Verbinden Sie die XLR-Eingänge über ‚männliche’ XLR-Stecker mit dem Ausgang Ihrer Audio-Anlage.
3. Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung 3.1 Vertikale Aufstellung Der P11A wurde für eine vertikale Aufstellung konstruiert. Stellen Sie den Lautsprecher auf festen Untergrund oder befestigen Sie ihn auf einem Ständer. Abbildung 2: Vertikale Aufstellung 3.
3. Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung 3.3 Zweikanal Stereo Die gemeinhin günstigste Lautsprecheraufstellung im Zweikanal-Stereobetrieb ist das so genannte ‚Stereodreieck’. Die Lautsprecher und der Hörer stehen bzw. sitzen in den Eckpunkten eines gleichseitigen Dreiecks (60°Winkel). Im Allgemeinen gilt, dass der Abstand der Lautsprecher zueinander dem Hörabstand entsprechen sollte.
3. Empfehlungen zur Aufstellung 3.5 Hochtöner in Ohrenhöhe Positionieren Sie die Hochtöner möglichst in Ohrenhöhe. Für den Fall, dass Sie die Monitore deutlich über- oder unterhalb Ohrhöhe platzieren müssen, sollten diese entsprechend angewinkelt werden. Abbildung 6: Hochtöner in Ohrenhöhe 3.6 Allgemeine Empfehlungen Direkte Schallwege: Vermeiden Sie Hindernisse im Wege des Schalls zu Ihren Ohren.
4. Lautsprechereinstellungen Auf der Rückseite finden Sie neben dem Netzschalter ein Kontrollpanel, das Ihre Lautsprecher an die jeweilige Raumakustik bzw. den persönlichen Geschmack anzupassen ermöglicht. Die folgenden Ausführungen sollen Ihnen helfen, die Einstellungsmöglichkeiten optimal nutzen zu können.
4. Lautsprechereinstellungen 4.2 High Gain (Hochtonpegel) Während der ‚Input Gain’ die allgemeine Eingangsempfindlichkeit (Lautstärke) aller Frequenzbereiche regelt, dient der ‚Tweeter Gain’ dazu, lediglich im Hochtonbereich (>1,800 Hz) den Pegel um bis zu 4 dB anzuheben oder abzusenken. 4.3 Room EQs (Shelvefilter) Die beiden weiteren Regler funktionieren anders als die Gains.
5. Fehlerbehebung Alle ADAM Produkte werden nach höchsten Qualitätsstandarts gefertigt. Sollte wider Erwarten dennoch ein Problem auftauchen, empfehlen wir, zunächst folgende Maßnahmen durchzuführen: 5.1 Die LED zeigt normalen Betrieb an (grün), es wird aber kein oder nur ein gestörtes Signal ausgegeben: Betrifft das Problem beide Lautsprecher, liegt die Ursache zumeist innerhalb der Signalkette; betrifft es nur einen Lautsprecher, ist wahrscheinlich dieser die Fehlerquelle.
6. Wartung und Pflege Schalten Sie vor jeder Reinigung die Lautsprecher am rückseitigen Netzschalter aus! Verhindern Sie, dass Flüssigkeiten jeglicher Art ins Gehäuseinnere gelangen. Sprühen Sie weder Flüssigkeiten direkt auf das Gerät, noch nutzen Sie nasse Reinigungslappen. Bitte verwenden Sie keine brennbaren und ätzenden Chemikalien zur Reinigung dieses Produkts. Vermeiden Sie jede Berührung mit den Membranen der Lautsprecher.

10. Garantie Die ADAM Audio GmbH gewährt auf Ihre aktiven Lautsprecher eine beschränkte Garantie von 5 Jahren. Alle Produkte werden nach den höchsten Qualitätsstandards entwickelt und hergestellt. Sollte ein Produkt wider Erwarten dennoch Mängel aufweisen, gelten folgende Bedigungen für die Inanspruchnahme der Garantie: 10.
