You can load MicroPython onto your ESP8226 and write code in Python! It's an official MicroPython core and is

fairly well supported. We even have tons of projects and getting started guides!

You can also try using embedXcode which has a template for the ESP8266 with Xcode

esp-open-sdk is a toolchain that will let you progam the ESP8266 processor directly (more info at the

esp8266.com wiki)
